Israel gained its independence following World War Two after the UK ended its colonial mandate of Palestine. Jewish refugees and other unfortunate victims of the Holocaust immigrated to Palestine and other areas in order to create the Jewish homeland promised in the UK Balfour Declaration. The influx of unwanted immigrants created tension and friction in the Arab dominated region. The powerful body of the United Nations intervened, creating the Jewish state of Israel in the south, and Arab Palestine in the north of the country. To help calm hostility between the two violent factions, the important city of Jerusalem, holy to Jews, Muslims, and Christians, was briskly declared an international city. A series of wars and battles between Israel and its Arab neighbours led to an increasing area of Israeli territory, including gaining control of Jerusalem, and heightened tension between Jews and Arabs in the region.

The Underground Israeli Intelligence Community

Israel built its intelligence and security communities to ensure the survival of the precarious area. Israel's first intelligence forces were groups of very special agents whose task was to seek out the Nazi war criminals and either kill them, or bring them to swift justice. The government then trained more special agents to spy on rival governments, gangs and militaries in the Middle East. By the nineteen sixties, the Israeli underground intelligence service was one of the most well-trained, sophisticated, high technology, and effective super intelligence services in the world.

Now, 4 primary agencies comprise the underground Israeli intelligence community. Israeli underground intelligence services are divided along traditional lines, but all Israeli intelligence officers receive military training due to the nation's policy of compulsory service.  In Israel people would be beaten or stoned for getting involved with swingers clubs or swingers parties.

If you watch bbc news24 you often find news articles on trouble in the Middle East, people even now in 2008 get killed every day.  Israel are very interested in Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences.   Social and political research in Israel can help intelligence and security become more effective.  ISPR are specialists in Political analysis in Israel.
